Hunt Overview – Area 129
This outfitter’s hunt in Area 129 runs from September 1 through October 31. This is a fully guided 5-day call-in and spot-and-stalk elk hunt on foot, designed to take place during peak rut activity when bulls are highly vocal and responsive.
Weapon Options & Opportunity
Area 129 uniquely allows hunters to use both archery equipment and rifles during the rut—a rare opportunity to pursue trophy bulls under ideal conditions.
Terrain & Elevation
The highest elevation hunted is approximately 4,100 feet. Terrain is fairly rugged, featuring deep canyons and Ponderosa pine forests. Hunters should be prepared for moderate to physically demanding conditions.
Trophy Potential & Herd Management
To maintain exceptional herd quality, this outfitter only allows a limited number of mature bulls to be harvested each year. Recent years have produced:
- Average bulls: 340”–370”
- Minimum target: 300”+
- Largest bull harvested: 383” gross
This hunt is 100% free-range and fair chase — no high fences.
