Mountain Goat Hunting in the Rockies
Mountain goats in this region have huge bodies, with most mature billies tipping the scales at over 300 pounds. The average billy measures 9¼”. Because these mountains receive snow even in July and August, the goats are known for their long, luxurious hair, even on early hunts.
Hunts are conducted either by horseback or backpack. Mountain goats can be added onto early August sheep hunts, but they are best targeted as a primary species in late August to early September. Populations are lightly hunted to ensure a high opportunity for mature animals.
Hunt options include 7- or 10-day trips, tailored to be as challenging or easy as desired. Since purchasing the area in 2017, the outfitter has maintained a 100% opportunity rate on hunts, including archery. This is a hunt with great representatives and an unforgettable experience.
